Dr. Sue Ritter
As our Medical Team Director, Dr. Susan Ritter is an integral part of the Matamba Aid Society and its success in providing medical aid to the people of Matamba. She is a retired OBGYN physician from Marquette, Michigan with 40 years of experience working as a nurse, midwife and physician. In addition to that, Dr. Ritter has over 10 years of experience working in the inner city of New York. Dr. Ritter has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Columbia University (BSN, MSN, MPH). She went to medical school at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine (MD). Residency at University of Colorado (post graduate medical training).
Dr. M.J. Lexmond
Dr. M.J. (Martinus Joseph Lexmond), was born September 15, 1930 in the Netherlands. He grew up on a small dairy farm and received secondary and college education in Leiden, Netherlands. He went on to medical school at the University of Leiden. Dr. M.J. had an internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and spent 5 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio for his Residency. He ran his Medical Surgical Practice in Ishpeming, MI until his retirement in 2011. Dr. M.J. was an original member of the St. Joseph Parish MatambaMission with direct contact with pastor, Fr. Jim Challancin and Fr. AlbertMligo, Administrator of Matamba’s St. John’s Health Care Center. He is married with 5 children.
Wife of Bob Marietti and life-long resident of Ishpeming, Michigan. Cheryl worked for the Ishpeming School System for 37 years, retiring as the business manager for the district. She and her husband formed and managed the “Gitchee Gumee Guys” of Marquette County, a young choir of unchanged voices that performed around the Upper Peninsula.
Bob Marietti is a life-long resident of Ishpeming, Michigan and graduate and post-graduate of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. He retired after 22 years of serving the four western school districts in Marquette County as a Community Education Director.
Leslie Lasko is the mother of two wonderful children. She is an original member of the St. Joseph’s Matamba Mission Committee. From 1983-1987 Leslie served in the United States Air Force. She worked as a dental assistant and personal homecare provider, and she is an active volunteer in the Marquette County community.
Ted Finco was born and raised in Wakefield, Michigan. Currently he is married with four children, lives in Marquette, Michigan and is the General Manager for Gordon Food Services in Marquette. Ted is the past President of the Rotary Club of Marquette from 2007-2008 and 2012-2013, and is currently the Club Secretary and serving on the Board of Directors. Ted participated in a Matamba Medical Mission Trip in October of 2013. He graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management/Accounting.
Geraldine Nault was born and raised in Ishpeming, MI. She completed 8 grades at St. John Catholic School and graduated from Ishpeming High School. After graduating from St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing in Marquette, MI, she was employed for 41 years as a Registered Nurse. The majority of her nursing career was spent in hospital nursing followed by college health nursing at Ada B Vielmetti Health Center at Northern Michigan University. She resides in Marquette, MI and is a member of St. Michael Parish.
